VHS Grinds Out 44–41 Road Win at Reed City VHS turned in a complete team effort Friday night, leaning on tough defense, strong rebounding, and timely runs to secure a hard-fought 44–41 road victory over Reed City on Jan. 2. The game was tight throughout, with VHS holding a slim 13–11 edge after the first quarter before Reed City evened things up at halftime. Neither team found much rhythm offensively, but VHS stayed composed, defended with energy, and won the battle on the glass to keep control when it mattered most. Defense set the tone for VHS, forcing 18 Reed City turnovers while collecting nine steals and three blocks. The Wolverines also limited second-chance opportunities by pulling down 26 defensive rebounds and matching Reed City with seven offensive boards of their own. Offensively, VHS made its biggest impact during key stretches. The team scored 13 points off turnovers and added 10 points in transition, capitalizing on defensive stops to build momentum. VHS finished strong in the fourth quarter, outscoring Reed City 15–14 to close out the win. Brehm Warczinsky led all scorers with 18 points, knocking down four three-pointers and playing heavy minutes on both ends of the floor. Jansen Scholer added 10 points while contributing nine rebounds and steady leadership. Lucas Warczinsky filled the stat sheet with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists, helping VHS stay connected offensively. Kofee Arntz provided an efficient spark, scoring five points and posting a team-best plus-nine in limited minutes, while the rest of the roster contributed defensively and on the boards. Despite shooting challenges for both teams, VHS’s ability to play together, defend, and rebound consistently proved to be the difference in a gritty road win.
