VHS Boys Battle but Come Up Short at Beal City (36–42) VHS put together a strong effort on the road Saturday night, but a tough shooting night at the free-throw line and a few missed open looks late proved costly in a 42–36 loss to Beal City. The boys moved the ball well, generated quality shots, and competed defensively for all four quarters. After a slow start offensively, VHS found rhythm in the second and third quarters, cutting into the deficit with disciplined ball movement and timely perimeter shooting. The game remained within reach throughout the fourth, but missed free throws and open opportunities kept VHS from sealing the comeback. Defensively, VHS forced 15 Beal City turnovers while committing just seven of their own, showing strong discipline and effort on that end. The Wolverines also finished with more points off turnovers (7–4) and second-chance points (6–3), reflecting strong hustle plays. Brehm Warczinsky led all scorers with 23 points, knocking down six three-pointers and attacking consistently. Lucas Warczinsky added 10 points and three steals, while the team totaled 11 assists, highlighting unselfish play despite shots not falling at key moments. While the final score didn’t go their way, this was a game where VHS did many things right. With improved free-throw shooting and a few more open looks dropping, the result easily could have flipped. The effort, energy, and execution were all there—this one just didn’t bounce their way.
