VHS 48–34 Win, Sets Up Showdown for First Place Vestaburg’s boys varsity basketball team turned in a gritty, high-energy performance Tuesday night, defeating Carson City–Crystal 48–34 to improve to 6–2 on the season. From the opening tip, VHS set the tone with tough, physical defense and relentless effort. The Wolverines jumped out early, leading 17–13 after the first quarter, and never allowed Carson City–Crystal to find an offensive rhythm. Vestaburg forced 25 turnovers, turning defense into offense with 25 points off turnovers and 14 steals, a clear reflection of the team’s intensity on the floor. The Wolverines dominated transition opportunities (11–0) and controlled the paint, outscoring the Eagles 22–10 inside. Ball movement was also a key factor, as VHS finished with 13 assists and consistently created quality looks through extra passes. Jansen Scholer led all scorers with 16 points, adding three rebounds, three assists, and four steals while setting the pace on both ends of the floor. Brehm Warczinsky chipped in 15 points, knocking down three triples, and Lucas Warczinsky filled the stat sheet with 13 points, six assists, eight steals, and five rebounds, anchoring the defense and pushing the tempo all night. Inside, Kofee Arntz provided a strong presence with thirteen rebounds, four points, and four steals, helping Vestaburg win key hustle battles. Defensively, the Wolverines also recorded 16 deflections and three blocks, consistently disrupting passing lanes and forcing rushed decisions. The 48–34 victory not only showcased Vestaburg’s toughness and energy, but it also sets up a massive matchup. Thursday night, VHS will play for first place in the conference at Sacred Heart.
