Vestaburg Boys Basketball Continues Historic Start with Defensive Clinic The Vestaburg boys basketball team continued its unbelievable start to the season on Wednesday night moving to 10-4, turning in one of the program’s most impressive defensive performances in recent memory. In a 52–26 win over Lakeview on January 28, the Wolverines showcased relentless effort, communication, and togetherness on the defensive end—holding Lakeview to just 28 points and 0.56 points per possession. It marks one of the best starts Vestaburg has had in the past 20 years. From the opening tip, Vestaburg set the tone defensively. The Wolverines flew around the floor, closed out shooters, and consistently made up for mistakes with hustle and teamwork. Lakeview was limited to 26.3% shooting from the field and just 12.5% from three-point range. Vestaburg also forced 13 turnovers while scoring 11 points off those mistakes and outscoring Lakeview 32–12 in the paint. Offensively, Vestaburg was led by Brehm Warczinsky, who poured in a game-high 20 points and 2 assists. Lucas Warczinsky added 15 points, ten rebounds, and four steals. Jansen Scholer added 9 points 3 rebounds and 2 assits, while Kofee Arntz chipped in eight points and five rebounds. The Wolverines’ balance was evident, as multiple players made key contributions while maintaining defensive intensity for all four quarters. Vestaburg outscored Lakeview in every period and pulled away with a dominant third quarter. With another locked-in performance on both ends of the floor, Vestaburg continues to prove this group is special—built on effort, communication, and playing for one another.
