Huge Win: VHS Hands Breckenridge Just Their Second Loss of the Season The VHS boys varsity basketball team delivered one of its most complete performances of the year on February 13, 2026, defeating Breckenridge High School 65–49 and handing them just their second loss of the season. From the opening tip, VHS set the tone. The team moved the ball efficiently, executed offensively, and locked in defensively to control the game from start to finish. After leading 34–36 at halftime in a tightly contested first half, VHS broke the game open in the third quarter, holding Breckenridge to just four points. That defensive stand proved to be the turning point, as VHS carried the momentum into the fourth quarter to secure the 16-point victory. Dominant on Both Ends VHS was extremely efficient offensively, shooting 47.9% from the field and posting an impressive 55.2% effective field goal percentage. The team also connected on 75% of its free throws and averaged 1.19 points per possession — a testament to their disciplined shot selection and ball movement. Defensively, VHS was outstanding. They limited Breckenridge to just 36.7% shooting and only 14 points in the paint. The rebounding effort was equally strong, with VHS pulling down 24 defensive rebounds and outscoring Breckenridge 9–2 in second-chance points. The team finished with: 19 assists 8 steals 12 deflections Only 6 turnovers That combination of ball security, rebounding, and defensive intensity made the difference. Balanced Scoring Attack VHS had four players score in double figures: Brehm Warczinsky – 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists Jansen Scholer – 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists Lucas Warczinsky – 16 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists Kofee Arntz – 10 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting Kolton Kilmer added 3 points and contributed on the defensive end. The balanced scoring and unselfish play were evident all night, with multiple players stepping up and contributing in key moments. Season Momentum With the win, VHS improves to 14–6 on the season and continues to build momentum at the right time. If they continue to defend, rebound, and share the basketball at this level, they will be a tough matchup for anyone down the stretch. This was a statement win — complete, disciplined, and dominant.
