LAKEVIEW – The Wolverines faced a challenging day on the diamond, dropping both ends of a doubleheader despite several standout individual performances. Game 1: High-Scoring Affair Ends in Narrow Loss In the opening contest, the Wolverines fought through a back-and-forth battle but ultimately fell 9-7. Halgren earned the start on the mound, striking out four batters over two innings of work. He was also a force at the plate, accounting for one of the team's hits with a powerful triple. Bunton provided four innings of relief, racking up eight strikeouts while surrendering only two hits. Offensively, Scholer paced the lineup with a multi-hit game, finishing with two hits and an RBI. Harnack proved to be the primary run producer, leading the team with two RBIs. Contributions also came from Proctor and Allbee, who each recorded a hit in the effort. Game 2: Pitcher’s Duel Swings Toward Lakeview The nightcap proved to be a tighter defensive struggle, with Lakeview securing a 4-1 victory. Scholer took the ball for the start and delivered a gritty performance, pitching five full innings. He dominated at times, matching a team-high with eight strikeouts while allowing only three earned runs. Scholer also provided his own run support, leading the Wolverines' offense with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate and driving in the team’s lone run. Bunton added to the hit total, but the Wolverines were unable to string together the necessary rally to overcome the deficit. The Wolverines will look to bounce back in their next outing as they aim to turn these strong individual efforts into team wins.
