Strong Showing for Vestaburg at Carson City-Crystal Cross Country Invite Multiple Season and Personal Records, Plus Top Middle School Finishes Carson City, MI – The Vestaburg cross country team put together a solid performance at the Carson City-Crystal Invitational, bringing home a host of personal bests, season records, and even a few medals on a warm and competitive race day. High School Girls Place 6th Overall Despite missing one of their top runners, the girls' varsity squad secured a 6th place team finish, trailing only one other Division 4 team in the standings. Jessica Stouten led the charge, running a 22:23 to place 20th overall and earn a medal. Cora Carver turned in a strong Season Record (SR) of 24:37, showing continued progress. Kaylynn Seeley also notched a Season Record with her time of 25:43. Zoe Oakley joined the SR club as well, finishing in 27:26. CJ Rose crossed the line at 32:57, helping secure team points in a deep field. High School Boys On the boys' side, Wesley Schram had a standout race, clocking a Season Record of 20:59, continuing to pace the team. Kolton Kilmer ran a Personal Record (PR) of 24:25, showing significant improvement and commitment in the second half of the season. Middle School Shines Bright It was an especially impressive day for the middle school runners, with two athletes etching their names into the school’s record books. Preston Bollinger ran a blazing 13:01, earning 6th place overall and a medal. His time now ranks him #2 All-Time among the school's middle school 2-milers. Riley Fitch wasn’t far behind, finishing in 14:06 for 18th place and a medal, also earning the title of #2 All-Time for the girls’ middle school 2-mile. Jena Penrod crushed her previous best with a PR of 16:03, and Isla Warczinsky put in a solid race to finish at 17:09. With the postseason quickly approaching, this meet was a strong indicator of where the team stands. Several athletes are peaking at the right time, and the impressive depth of the middle school squad suggests a bright future for Vestaburg cross country.
