Vestaburg Cross Country Battles Heat, Earns All-Conference Honors at MSAC #1 Meet VESTABURG, MI – The Vestaburg cross country team faced sweltering heat and stiff competition during the first Mid-State Activities Conference (MSAC) jamboree of the season, but the Wolverines held strong, with multiple runners earning all-conference honors and the girls team securing a top-three spot in the standings. Girls Varsity – Holding Strong at 3rd in the MSAC Despite running with one less scorer, the Vestaburg girls put together an impressive team performance, currently sitting in third place overall behind Sacred Heart Academy (SHA) and Breckenridge. Junior Jessica Stouten led the charge, crossing the finish line in 23:01 to place 3rd overall, earning all-MSAC honors for her strong performance. She was followed by: Cora Carver – 27:12 (19th) Kaylyn Seeley – 28:17 (25th) Zoe Oakley – 29:35 (27th) CJ Rose – 31:17 (32nd) “This group battled hard despite the heat and being down a runner. We’re proud of their toughness and look forward to what they can do at full strength,” said Coach Breidinger. Boys Varsity – Gondek Earns All-MSAC Honors On the boys’ side, Demetrius Gondek turned in a standout performance, finishing 15th overall with a time of 20:30, earning himself all-MSAC recognition. He was backed up by: Ethan Walker – 22:15 (23rd) Kolton Kilmer – 25:02 (35th) Middle School Runners Shine Bright The middle school athletes also made their presence known with strong showings: Preston Bollinger led the boys with a 7th place finish in 13:54 Riley Fitch claimed 8th in the girls race with a time of 15:33 Jena Penrod rounded out the effort in 15th place at 16:38 Coach Breidinger praised the young team’s effort, noting, “Our middle schoolers are gaining great experience and showing they’ll be a big part of our future.” Up Next: The team will continue MSAC competition at the next jamboree, looking to close the gap and push further up the standings.
