COLEMAN, MI – The Vestaburg Varsity Wolverines hit a major milestone on Monday, securing their first win of the season during a hard-fought doubleheader against Coleman. After a tough loss in the opener despite a dominant pitching performance, the Wolverines bounced back with a complete-game shutout to split the series. Game 1: Coleman 5, Vestaburg 1 The Wolverines started strong in the opening frame when Jansen Scholer grounded out to drive in a run, giving Vestaburg an early 1-0 lead. However, that would be the only time the Wolverines crossed the plate. On the mound, Colton Halgren put on a strikeout clinic. Halgren fanned 11 batters over five innings, allowing only five hits. Despite his command, four walks and a timely Coleman rally resulted in five runs, handing him a tough-luck loss.
